Biography

My landscape paintings are as much about my soul as they are the place I'm painting. If I paint a tree in the scene, it's because the tree means something to me. If it didn't, I would fill that space with whatever is next to the tree in real life, and if not that, with light. When it comes to painting landscapes, I don't owe the canvas anything. The landscape itself already exists. It always exists. What I bring to the canvas is my opinion of it, my feelings about it, the elements I notice that others do not. This is the painting, not the landscape itself. My landscape paintings are a treasure chest of what's beautiful in the world so that I never forget.
