Biography

Christopher Campbell is best known for his depictions of the landscape, focusing on the beauty of the land. He was born in Vermont and is a Northern California plein air painter who works in oils on canvas. He lives in a California craftsman bungalow in San Francisco and works for the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. His paintings capture some of northern California’s diverse landscapes in the style of European Impressionists and California Tonalists; Granville Redmond, Edgar Payne, Guy Rose, Claude Monet, Tom Thompson, and Harry Orlyk are important influences. His love of nature, the natural environment and architecture can be seen in his depictions of the landscape.
