Biography

“My family was unconventional and proud of it. Art is my way to express my activism.”

My subjects are naked but are completely comfortable in their skins. Are you? Do you want to be? Nudity is not an issue. Body love is. My drawings and paintings convey this frankness and feel intimate and natural. Powerful women. These are real people who come across as strong, decisive, confident, and unique individuals – this is my underlying narrative.

Drawn from live, nude models, they are gestural, graphic, sensual, and fluid. Often combined with my photos and paintings, they take on universal meanings and narratives. Working digitally on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil helps me work fast and test possibilities.

I have always been focused on people. My art reflects my desire to convey an everyday humanity that motivates people to embrace their humanness and imperfections. I identify with my models and they become our shared story. My work is feminist and confrontational, yet richness of color, line, texture, and composition are of equal importance. Whatever form my work takes - from small stuffed sculptures to monolithic installations, it's fundamental for my art to reveal our natures and and remain uncensored.
