Artist Bio

Jirsa is a plein air oil painter that has been painting scenes around the Bay Area and across the country for over two decades. At the root of their practice is creating oil paintings in public places as a way to make fine art accessible to all and to celebrate the beauty found in the outside world. Jirsa engages the community by painting directly in the streets of the city which opens up space for sharing stories and learning the neighborhood’s history from the people that live there.  Liberal use of pure color result in vibrant tributes to cherished places while modernizing the tradition of painting in plein air. Each original Jirsa art piece provides a colorful getaway and powerful reprieve from the gray cement and daily hustle.
