Suzane Beaubrun
Artist Bio
Suzane Beaubrun is an Oakland based multi-media artist. Her formal education started at the Art Student’s League of NY where she studied figure drawing and became an assistant teacher. That amazing experience inspired her to travel across the country to study at the San Francisco Art Institute where she earned her BFA. Traveling back across the country she found a new passion for working with metal honed by classes at Pratt Institute and the Craft Student’s League. Traveling across the country one more time as one does, she landed in Oakland where she learned to incorporate found and up cycled materials into her work.
Suzane’s work is a reflection of her life in Oakland, and urban environment where flora and fauna, grit, resilience, and the magic of creativity are omnipresent. She often focuses on making jewelry ( sculpture for the body) out of found objects, up cycled materials and more traditional metals and gems. Her work is very physical incorporating weaving and crochet with hand- sawed details and other metalworking techniques.
